If you were fortunate enough to visit the Courvoisier Chateau in Jarnac, France, you may have experienced the unusual "Le Nez (translation: the nose) de Courvoisier Experience." This multi-sensory event was designed to tune participants in to the aromas and esoteric elements that make the upscale cognac unique.
The event involved a blindfold, music and a brand ambassador who explained what the participant was tasting and why. Participants were coached to really use their sense of smell before tasting the spirit, while listening to music from French composer Laurent Assoulen.
Realizing that this unique experience was portable, the cognac maker decided to hit the road, visiting Atlanta, Chicago and New York in September and October. Attendees sampled Courvoisier Exclusif and XO Imperial. National brand ambassador Stephanie Mills hosted the events, which vowed to "ignite your senses."
Each attendee took home their Courvoisier blindfold. Long-time cognac connoisseurs who attended also received a gift pack that included branded glasses, a Le Nez pin and other items.
Kim Washington, director of luxury brands at Beam Global Spirits & Wine Inc. says, "Le Nez enhances the cognac tasting experience by focusing on the sense of smell, which drives taste and creates greater and deeper appreciation for Courvoisier. The Le Nez program focuses on the history and craftsmanship of the Courvoisier brand."
